Indian summer--it comes to us every year (especially in Kansas) just as we have gotten used to throwing on extra layers. It's especially frustrating this year as some parts of Kansas are supposed to reach nearly 100 degrees today! No matter where you live, it's good to have an outfit ready for those days of unexpected warmth. Let the Indian Summer sun sink into your bones with these styling tips and remember its warmth in a couple months when winter takes hold.
First tip, plan on wearing booties. A closed toe shoe gives the outfit a cooler weather look while the short length of a bootie won't roast your legs. Speaking of legs, Indian Summer is the perfect time to wear sundresses one last time before they hibernate for winter. It's all about coloring here to keep it on-season. Stick to darker colors--black, olive green, muted rose. Even a floral or paisley print dress can be perfect for fall with warmer, deep tones. Finally, layer back up on jewelry in lieu of typical fall layers. Add some interest to your outfit with a chunky necklace or a leather wrap watch.
The dress I am wearing above is sold out. It was from Urban Outfitters. However, to make it up to you guys, I linked some really cute dresses currently available on UO that would be perfect for Indian Summer. To make it even better, UO is having a dress sale--20% off all styles! The sale ends tomorrow at midnight, so get in while you can and stock up. You really can't miss with Urban, it's one of my favorite stores. Happy shopping!
