First off, I want to thank Sara Clance of Sara Clance Photography for doing a phenomenal job shooting one of my favorite outfits to date. You never know what's going to happen when working with a new photographer but there was instant collaboration chemistry here. Again, thanks Sara for wanting to work with me, being so talented and to your kids for making the shoot so fun. :) If you love these gorgeous images, make sure to like Sara Clance Photography on Facebook!
Now, let's get to the outfit. Wearing dresses in the fall and winter may not be everyone's first choice. I'll be honest, once the weather gets cooler you can generally find me living 24/7 in yoga leggings and a giant sweater that looks like it should belong to a hobo. However, I'm all about trying new things, and I was inspired by these Stuart Weitzman Playtime boots I bought last season (on major sale). With a warm suede over the knee boot, you can get away with wearing a mini dress and still keep pretty warm. If you choose to invest in OTK boots, stick to a neutral color (like this perfect grey-brown) and opt for a flat heel to up the versatility.
The accessories really make this outfit. An LBD and tall boots is the base of an outfit formula that can go a lot of places. Add a chunky scarf in fall prints like I did here and you are ready for a girls' day out. Take off the scarf and throw on a leather jacket and the same outfit can take you right into date night. Speaking of that scarf, I got it at Walmart. For nine dollars! It was an epic find and the quality is so great. The other statement piece--the red Burberry rucksack--was definitely an investment piece. I always love pairing high and low end finds. Price tags don't define good style. I included some affordable options below; especially in the case of the boots I'm really excited because I found a comparable style that is a total steal!
