Coachella is happening right now, and with it comes the start of festival season. I had planned to be in Palm Springs this year as I have never been to Coachella before, but ultimately opted for Cancun instead, so I can't be too mad! However, I will definitely attend the festival in the future. Not only is the music a huge draw (the year The Naked and Famous is back at Coachella, I'm GOING), but the boho, free-spirited styles are so cool to see. Planning the over the top gypsy outfits would be so much fun--anything goes! If you're going to a music festival this season, or simply want to be inspired by these fun looks, read on for details on these three looks. :)
The first thing which may stand out in all these outfits is the flower crown. If you're going to a festival, it isn't the time to be timid with your style. Go for a dreamy goddess look with a crown of flowers or a head chain, be a desert gypsy with a wide fedora and a faux septum ring--get into your outfit and its theme and don't be afraid of bold accessories you might not wear everyday. Trust me, you'll fit right in with the festival crowd.
The first outfit is simple but ethereal. A white mini dress or romper in an airy fabric is perfect for hot weather. Anything crochet is festival-ready. I love the unique location of this romper's crochet cut out. To finish off this look, I would layer up on delicate necklaces, vintage rings and a chunky turquoise bracelet. You may note the lack of accessories in this look--that's because it was scorching hot during this shoot so details were overlooked--but more on that later. ;)
The second look makes a more goddess-like statement. A maxi dress is always a great outfit change up, but for festivals it is fun to ramp up your style even more by choosing a dress with cute cut-outs and tie up details! Of course, keep the material loose and flowy so you don't get too warm. This dress by Sabo Skirt was recently restocked in an even more amazing updated style with a completely open back. I'll link it below! My amazing friend, Lauren, is showing off another maxi dress festival look with me in this set. I love how she styled an all-black look with a pop of color in the flower crown.
Crop tops are the ultimate festival staple. Pair them with some cute high-waisted shorts and you are ready to go. The flower crown takes this outfit from ordinary to festival ready. I love this cute look. I would pair it with fringed ankle booties! If flower crowns aren't your thing, I could see this same outfit going really edgy by adding a chunky necklace, a wide-brimmed hat and aviators.
These images are from another great shoot with Rebecca and Josh of Mira Visu Photography! They were shot in KC's Loose Park on a VERY warm July day. If Lauren and I have a dewy glow in the pictures, it is surely due to the miracle of photography making our sweat look pretty. This was why we didn't layer up on jewelry like we normally would; we were sweating to death just changing outfits! Since this shoot was awhile back, that's why my hair is a little shorter (I didn't cut it!) and lighter at the ends. I miss my ombre! I am thinking about having it redone, but I'm scared to damage the ends of my hair. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below! :)
