For me, this summer has truly felt endless. Maybe it's all the travel I've been doing, but I feel like I've the summer has just lasted and lasted. That's definitely not a bad thing as there is no time of the year quite like the long, adventure-filled days of summer, however, I am definitely looking forward to fall. It has always been my favorite season--the crisp clarity of the air, colorful leaves, tailgating, and my birthday (October 20!) all combine to make the season refreshing and fun after summer.
Another aspect of fall I love is the transitional wardrobe options. It is so tempting to pull out the sweaters and jeans the moment the temperatures start to dip, but there are so many fun options you can try out while the weather is still mild. There is no other time of year where you can throw a jacket or sweater over a sundress or wear a sweater with denim shorts. At the same time, it can be frustrating when the days alternate between too hot and a little bit chilly.
Enter this two part blog series where I style a cute little white dress two ways--one for late summer and another look for a chillier day. A white dress is a versatile piece to keep in your closet. First of all, let's ditch the no white after labor day rule--I love white all year round. The summer use of this white dress is very simple; throw it on with gladiator sandals and a wide brim hat to stay cool on a warm, late fall day. All outfit details are linked below. Stay tuned next week to see how I style the same white dress for fall.
I have to take a moment to talk about these amazing photos by Mira Visu Photography. We shot these at the Greenbelt in Austin, TX. This location was so beautiful. The water was so clear and as we waded out (carefully over the rocks, fearing snakes and holes!), we could see cactus growing off the top of the cliffs. I really felt like some sort of desert mermaid, which seems oxymoronic at best, but trust me, it's a great feeling.
