This week, I’m excited to introduce a new photographer I collaborated with—Emily Steele Photography! Emily is not only super talented, but also a lot of fun to work with. We had instant chemistry and delved into great conversation (and I don’t think it was just the Fireball shot!). I’m always so thankful of photographers who are willing to work with me, even in freezing cold weather! They really make this blog possible, so thank you Emily! These images speak for themselves as recommendation; if you need gorgeous images for weddings, engagements, etc, get in touch with Emily Steele via her website or Facebook page. If you love this romantic vintage-inspired look, please keep scrolling for more pics and outfit details! :)
This second section of photography is by Sara Clance. I love how her style meshes so well with Emily's, yet you can see the difference in their edits with the slight difference in tones. Photography is such an amazing art!
Now, let's talk about this outfit. I know blue isn't exactly a traditional Valentine's day color, BUT if you think about the second stanza in the "roses are red" poem, maybe it's not so far off. Violets, ya know? To me, this look is extremely romantic and would be perfect for a winter wedding guest outfit, as well as your more formal V-Day plans.
While the dress, shoes, clutch and necklace are all modern finds, the coat is what really makes this outfit special to me. This blonde mink beauty is a true vintage design purchased by my Grandpa as a present for Grandma in the 1960s. He bought it for her when she traveled overseas to meet my Grandpa in Hong Kong during the Korean War. My Grandpa loves to tell this story to this day. It's one of his fondest memories since Grandma is no longer with us. In the 60s, it was uncommon for women to travel alone, not to mention overseas. Grandma's adventure to Hong Kong marked a huge milestone in my grandparents' romance as well as in my Grandma's life as an adventurous woman. Later she would pass this spirit to me and instill the will to adventure and to be unstoppable into my very existence. I owe the way I am today very much to her and would like to think she would definitely approve of this look using her fur coat.
One final word--I posted about these Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots in the fall, and I am reporting back that they are such a good investment, they are worth buying in two colors! I have the grey-brown and now the black as well. Lots of wears, lots of compliments, definitely recommend!
Coat: Vintage Blonde Mink. Obviously, I can't link the exact coat for you guys, but I did link some similar options above at various price points. I think the Kate Spade faux fur option is the best bang for your buck!
Boots: Stuart Weitzman
Clutch: Zac by Zac Posen
