Confession time: I love an occasional browse through American Eagle. I always feel kind of weird going in there because I’ve literally shopped AE since I was 12, but I can’t deny it—it’s a great place to stock up on essentials.
There are two things that (in my opinion) aren’t worth splurging on. First rule, try to avoid overspending on very trendy pieces. These two-tone denim jeans are definitely a trendy item. With items like this, that you aren’t sure will sustain several seasons of style, it’s best to not throw down tons of cash.
However, you don’t want to buy something so cheap that it doesn’t fit well and/or doesn’t feel good. One of the things I hate about some items from fast fashion stores like Forever 21 is that sometimes the fabric quality is terrible. This is where American Eagle comes in clutch—the fabric is always SO nice and soft. As for these jeans, they are 100% cotton and have a very sturdy feel to them. Durable and comfortable for a great price.
Second rule: don’t splurge on basics. I have read several articles that advise the opposite of this. This advice could work for some, but in my experience, it’s always smart and rewarding when you find a staple piece that is also affordable! This black bodysuit from American Eagle is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. In fact, I’ve been known to wear it two days in a row! It is super soft, fits perfectly and is incredibly versatile. Plus, it was under $20. Double win.
Sorry these pics are kind of out of season, but I hope you find these two buying tips to be appropriate no matter what season! ;)
