Exercise--hate it or love it, it's an important part of looking and feeling your best. However, sometimes we aren't lacking motivation to work out, instead we lack the time in our busy schedules to hit the gym. I prefer to go on a long run, but life gets in the way of that sometimes. Below, I'm sharing my quick, at-home workout. All you need is 20 minutes. No equipment, no trip to the gym. My friend and fellow model, LaTasha joins me to help demonstrate these quick and effective exercises. For best results, do 20 reps of each exercise and repeat the set three times.
We all hate burpees. They really do suck, but they also really do get the blood flowing with high intensity cardio. From standing, drop into a squat with your hands on the floor. Then kick back into push-up position. Jump legs back forward to a squat, then spring straight up like I am in the picture above. That's one rep. Go through the motions as fast as you can to complete 20 reps.
After your last burpee, stay in push-up position and drop your arms so you're resting on your forearms (pictured). Keep your core tight, neck extended and hips level. Hold this position for one minute, or as long as you can. Only one of these here, then on to the next move!
3. Squat Jumps
LaTasha and I weren't sure of the exact name of this exercise, so we will just call them squat jumps. Whatever their technical name, they are fun and get the booty working! To do this exercise, go into squat position (as low as you can). Then jump to one side (left or right) into a lunge position. Jump back to return to a squat. Repeat by jumping into a lunge on the other side and returning to squat. That's one rep. Do 20 reps.
This is a classic exercise--for good reason. By using your own body weight to train, you can tone your arms, pecs, back AND abs. Push-ups are a total body workout and I like to incorporate them whenever I'm exercising. Do 20 reps push-ups.
5. ANOTHER Plank
It's important to train those abs. Finish your set by holding a plank for one minute, or as long as you can.
THAT'S ONE SET...do two more sets and you have a complete workout!
Don't forget to stretch after your workout! Thanks to LaTasha for joining me on this shoot. We had a lot of fun! Check her out on the Women of KU Swimsuit Calendar.
My fun workout top and leggings are super affordable! I found them at Walmart, and had to get them. They are high quality with mesh inserts and the pattern is great. These styles are available in-store only, but you can browse all the affordable and cute sport styles here. Bravo, Walmart, bravo!
