Coachella...the word itself has taken on a cult following in today's pop culture. This year, I finally indulged in experiencing the festival myself. Of course, for fashion bloggers like myself, planning our Coachella outfits is at least half the fun! I was so excited to find this perfect LBD right at Lillian's of KC in Briarcliff Shopping Center--it's perfectly lightweight for the heat with boho leather accent straps and a flowy skirt perfect for twirling to the music. Dreaming of going to Coachella? Read on for festival tips from my experience!
1. Get VIP Passes
If you can swing it, splurge on the VIP pass. It will be well worth it. The desert gets SO hot (99 degrees when I was there). While walking through the festival, it was horrifying how few shady spots there were in the GA sections. Add to that sparse bathrooms and water stations (both with super long lines), and VIP is totally worth the money. We had spots in the shade to sit, and could even sit right by the main stage (in the shade) during headliner acts! Plus, the food and drinks are better in VIP. ;)
2. Camp With Caution
We camped in Lake El Dorado camping which is teepee and safari tent (large tent with actual floor) camping. It's the "luxury" camping option for Coachella. It was nice, but whether you are car camping, tent camping or heading to Lake El Dorado, keep in mind that it is BLAZING hot by 9AM. You will not be able to chill in your tent (literally), and gates don't open until 11. It's really hard to find shade during these morning hours, and unless you have a band you want to see early, you will be doing a lot of waiting around.
3. Find A Pool Party!
Tying into the previous point, a good way to spend the day before going into the festival is to find a pool party! It's a great way to literally keep cool, plus some of the Palm Springs hotels are really cool architecturally. Lots of pool parties are invitation only, unfortunately, but you can also find ones that are either free or you can buy tickets to. We went to the Day Club at Palm Springs Hilton hotel. With free swag, DJing by Madeon and free (yes, free!) rosè, it was a great change of pace!
