Recently, I had a Poshmark experience that fell *short* of my expectations (keep on reading for full pun). As so many things do, It all started with a long chain of online events. I saw a viral pin on Pinterest of this Sabo Skirt romper from a previous season. Somehow, I had missed out on snagging this amazing piece when it was in stock. I scoured eBay and Poshmark for the piece, and got even more frenzied because I had an upcoming trip to Northern California. I just KNEW the long sleeved, crisp linen white romper would be amazing to wear in the Bay Area! The moment finally came, and I immediately clicked "Buy Now!" with blithe joy and just a little manic tic.
All was going well, shipping was super fast and the piece arrived on time for my trip. However, the moment I lifted the romper out of the package, I was suspicious. This romper looked TINY. Warily, I slunk back to my room to try it on. I still had some hope. Sometimes clothes can look horrifyingly small, yet somehow fit. Long story short (puns!!), that was NOT the case with this romper! I'm not sure if the previous owner washed it incorrectly and it shrunk, or if Sabo Skirt hired an idiot of a designer for this one, but there was NO way I was wearing this out in public!
I still loved the look of the top part of the romper, so I decided to style it for this photo shoot and use it as a bodysuit. For the look, I decided to continue the boho vibe of the romper by pairing with my favorite denim shorts, studded booties and a belt. I will be honest, stuffing the bottom of the romper into the shorts was slightly uncomfortable. While the bottoms are too short, they still are more flowing and layered than a traditional bodysuit. So it felt a bit bulky, but didn't look it.
Overall, I think using a romper as a top could be possible for transitioning into fall as long as the bottom part of the romper is not too long/flowy, and then the jeans/shorts layered over it are not skin tight. Give it a try and keep some of your summer wardrobe flowing into fall!
