Who’s been enjoying the weather here in the Midwest lately? Let me tell you, it hasn’t been me! We are right in the thick of moody transitional season weather with one day being 95 degrees and humid, the next being chilly and cloud-covered. We are also in another spike in the wedding season—and fall styles that don’t match the weather can have wedding guests scrambling to find the perfect dress! Read on for my tips on formal dressing for early fall.
Stick to Darker Colors
Nothing transforms a look better than color, and you can easily pick a fall appropriate look by sticking to dark, jewel tone colors. Luckily these shades of emerald, goldenrod, oxblood and sapphire are trending right now, so finding these flattering fall colors is easy!
Sleeve length is a must when creating a fall look. Think long sleeves—either in the arms, pant sleeves, or both! A mini dress with lace bell sleeves is perfect to keep you cool, while still looking fall-appropriate. Maxi dresses and flowing jumpsuits are also a good choice. If it’s a cooler day, look super chic with a long sleeved flowing jumpsuit.
Go for a hairstyle that will keep you comfortable while looking polished. The key is to go for an effortless look with loose waves or a romantic low bun. Like I did in the look above, you can take the bun out and change the look. OR you can go the opposite way and transform fallen or gone frizzy waves into a chic low bun.
