One of the reasons I started this blog is to help others discover new brands of clothing and accessories. Here in the Midwest we don't have a wide variety of fashion locales to shop. The choices are limited and so it can be hard to discover new trends or new brands to try. Trying out a new place to shop can be intimidating (especially when doing so online), and it is so easy to just go back to the same shop at the mall over and over again. However, trying some new brands can really inject a fresh look into your personal style. Brand Crush posts are here to help you discover some on-trend looks and give you a feel for the brand.
First up, Stone Cold Fox. This label was started by two rad young ladies out of California and their pieces reflect that west coast, laid back style that I love. Stone Cold Fox clothing features really unique cuts and high quality, beautiful fabrics. Their styles can range from wedding-appropriate dresses, beachy tops or the perfect outfit for a night out.
In this set of photos, I'm wearing the Aden Romper by Stone Cold Fox. I bought it in Santa Monica last year as a special vacation splurge. The subtle see through detail at the waist coupled with the dramatic bell sleeves exemplify the sexy, hippie vibes that I love about this brand. However, in the spirit of honesty, some SCF pieces are not very practical. With this romper, I was disappointed to realize that I could not zip it up by myself--not too convenient for a girl on a solo road trip! Wear it for a night out with a group of girlfriends and you're covered (let's be honest, we all end up together on bathroom trips anyway). Another observation I have made about this brand is that the sizing is a little finicky. I sized up with this romper because my usual size was SO tight around the top. After a couple wears, the bust is very loose to the point where I can't wear it without having to pull it up all the time. Small boob jokes aside, I have had to list it for sale on eBay.
However, none of this makes me less of a fan of the brand. In the future, I will stay true to size. But this is something to be aware of! If you buy an Aden Romper or a Holy Tube (a drop-dead gorgeous tube top) from SCF, be prepared for it to be VERY tight for first try-on until it stretches out. All of this is important to note since Stone Cold Fox pieces are pretty pricey. It's always good to know what you're getting yourself into with a splurge!
Some of my favorite items from the brand are the iconic Holy Tube in chain lace, the Logan Gown, and the Aden Romper (obviously). These are bestsellers and (like in the case of the Logan Gown) are not for sale on the SCF website anymore. This is when you take to eBay. For any expensive piece, I always go to eBay first regardless. However, the new collection by Stone Cold Fox is not to be overlooked as it features some great pieces. I love the Verona Dress--especially if you're a bride with an upcoming bachelorette party or shower! The Birch Gown would be lovely for a fall wedding reception or a girls' night. The Chorus Crop top would look divine paired with a flowy maxi skirt. Finally, I think it is so cool that SCF has a bridal line. I am obsessed with brides (especially in the midwest!) that break the trend of the traditional wedding gown and opt for something different. If that sounds like you, head over to SCF Bride immediately!
Now that I'm sorely tempted to go buy all those things I just listed, I will sign off. I hope this post expanded your fashion knowledge to a little more Cali cool, and hopefully I wasn't too bad of an influence on your bank account by tempting you with these gorgeous pieces! ;)
